Oregon Republican Party Advances Three in
Senate District 8 Appointment Process
Linn and Benton County Commissioners Will Select
One of Three To Fill Morse Seat
Lake Oswego, OR – Oregon Republican Party Chairman Allen Alley announced that three Senate District 8 Republicans have been nominated for appointment to replace Sen. Frank Morse who resigned on September 17th. Clinton Johnson of Albany, former Representative Betsy Close of Albany and Larry Mullins of Corvallis have received the nomination at a meeting of Republican Party Precinct officials on Tuesday night in Corvallis.
“We are pleased to nominate three strong candidates for this appointment,” Chairman Alley said. “Any one of these three could easily win this seat, and will do a great job representing the citizens of SD 8 in the Oregon Senate.”
Johnson, Close and Mullins received strong support receiving over fifty percent of the Precinct Committee votes cast in the grassroots PCP Nomination process, that was conducted according to Oregon State law and Oregon Republican Party Rules.
The Linn and Benton County Commissioners are expected to make the appointment on October 10th at 2:30pm in a meeting taking place in the Boardroom Sunset Building (Boardroom), 4077 SW Research Way in Corvallis, completing the Senate appointment process before the deadline established in Oregon State law.
