SENATORS WYDEN AND MERKLEY CAVE TO POLITICAL
PRESSURE FROM WASHINGTON, D.C. DEMOCRATS
Their critical votes advance health care experiment Oregon families can’t afford
Portland, Ore. – Oregon Republican Party Chairman Bob Tiernan released the following statement after Senators Wyden and Merkley caved to political pressure from Harry Reid and Rahm Emanuel and voted to advance the Obama-Reid-Pelosi Health Care Experiment:
“Tonight, while most Americans were preparing for bed, Senators Wyden and Merkley buckled to political pressure and joined Harry Reid’s effort to ram through his controversial health care experiment. If Democrats truly believed that government-run health care would benefit working Americans, why did Sens. Wyden and Merkley and their fellow Democratic senators join their House colleagues in insisting that these votes come in the dead of night, on the weekend, during a holiday week, when they thought no one was looking? The truth is they know that the Obama-Reid-Pelosi plan will do nothing but increase taxes on Oregon's families and small businesses, cut Medicare for Oregon's seniors and increase costs when Oregon's families go to the doctor.”
