as the will and moral courage of free men and women.
It is a weapon our adversaries in today’s world do not have."

Oregon Republicans Pass 2012 ‘Freedom Primary’
Non-Affiliated Voters invited to vote with Republicans in 3 statewide races

Albany, OR – The Central Committee of the Oregon Republican Party, at its winter meeting yesterday in Albany, voted to allow registered non-affiliated voters in Oregon to participate in the Party’s May 2012 primary election for partisan statewide offices.

The decision affects the three primary election races for state office: Secretary of State, Attorney General and Treasurer, and applies only for the 2012 election.

“We have seen the Democrats become more and more beholden to special interest groups that we do not think reflect the values and vision that a majority of Oregonians have for our state,” said Allen Alley, Chairman of the Oregon GOP.

"We believe that the Republican Party messages of responsible, responsive and efficient government coupled with fostering economic prosperity are not just Republican values, they are values that non-affiliated voters and even Democrats can embrace.  Non-affiliated voters are the only group that has not been allowed to cast a ballot in primary elections for partisan state offices. The Oregon GOP is sending them a message: we want you.”

Friends,

The turn-around at the Republican National Committee under the leadership of Chairman Reince Priebus has been extraordinary but not unexpected. Republicans all over the country are showing that we can improve services and reduce costs. Republican Governors from Mitch Daniels in Indiana, to Bobby Jindal in Louisiana, to Rick Snyder in Michigan and to Suzanna Martinez in New Mexico are showing that strong fiscal management is the foundation for economic recovery. The Oregon Republican Party is also dramatically improving our financial position, recruiting great candidates and leading the charge to fill the Democrats leadership vacuum to make the Oregon Republican Party, Oregon's Party.

Please join with us in 2012 to turn "Hope and Change" into "Aspiration and Change".  We aspire to a greater Oregon and America. Hope is not enough. Hope is passive. It's what you do when you wait for someone else to solve your problem. Aspiration is active. Aspiration is the actionable realization of your dreams.  Help us realize your dreams for a better America in 2012.

Please help us and make 2012 a historic year with your $20.12 donation now.

The first Woman Chair of the Oregon Republican Party Passes

Portland, OR – Today Chairman Allen Alley issues the following statement on the passing of Deanna Marie Koenig Smith, Chair of the Oregon Republican Party, 1997 to 1999:

“Oregon Republicans mourn the passing of former Chair Deanna Smith, the first woman Chair of our Party and a community leader with a long record of service to Oregon and our nation. Deanna always brought out the best in everyone she worked with and did a superb job in leading our Party during her term as Chair. Last September, the Oregon Republican Party State Central Committee unanimously passed a resolution honoring Deanna and her husband, former Congressman Denny Smith. Deanna, Denny and the Smith family are in our thoughts and prayers,” Chairman Allen Alley said.
